SL Triathlon was founded in February 2007 by Industrial Multisport. It is the only global triathlon group and meeting place in the virtual 3D world of Second Life. We have pioneered the concept of online workouts via Second Life. At SL Triathlon, we provide indoor cycling (spinning) classes every Tuesday and Thursday at 20:00 GMT.
Not everyone has time to go to the gym to take a spinning class. Many triathletes and cyclists train indoors on their turbo trainers in front of a TV or PC whenever they have time. Instead of following a DVD spinning program, we offer an interactive session via Second Life. Participants can cycle at home on their turbo trainers, while their avatars sit on exercise bikes in Second Life. Live spinning instructions are provided by us during a one hour session that truly mirrors a real life gym spinning class experience.
SL Triathlon's group membership has grown to over 550 people worldwide. Besides the spinning classes, we also hold regular in-world races, provide coaching training tips, host parties around real life Ironman races and also create product expos for our sponsors. We had sponsorship from Zipp Speed Weaponry in 2007 and now from DBM Nutrition, creator of Kona Endurance supplements.
We closed SL Triathlon on June 1, 2010, due to personal priorities with our "Ironbaby".
